Weber Traveler vs Weber Q: Head to Head Review!

Email updates from our community of grill masters, food enthusiasts, and lovers of outdoor cooking. This grill model comes with a disposable catch pan and has three colors to choose from. If you want to use it during camping, portable bbq we recommend buying a cover to keep it protected. When you make rubs at home we recommend you add salt first them the herbs and spices because salt penetrates deep and the other stuff remains on the surface.

Last up is the cart itself, which while functional, is about as flimsy as the tables. The cart will do perfectly fine while you are grilling your burgers but has quite a bit of wobble once you grab a brush and try to scrape it clean. The cart does collapse and you can roll the thing around but you will not want to. There is no lid latch to keep the lid closed during transport and the grates will bounce around, and then out, of the grill while you are rolling the cart. The Q2200 has a single burner the goes around the body of the grill.

From putting it together to actually using the grill, it has been a wonderful experience all around. And, while I will be using my whole grills for heavy duty grilling and smoking, this has earned its spot in my collection. In general, though, this gas grill is pretty easy to use. After a quick read through of the manual, even first timers shouldn’t have too much trouble figuring how it works. If you are looking for a temperature higher than this, though, you may find the Weber Q 2200 faltering. Of course, this is true of bigger and more expensive grills.

The standard Q2200 is designed to run from disposable 1 pound propane tanks. Like all Weber products we’ve tested, the popularity of the brand is backed by quality service and sales, with replacement parts being widely available. But considering the quality of their products, you weber q can expect a long and happy culinary relationship with this grill. The warranty covers grills given as gifts but is otherwise non-transferable. A 5 year warranty period includes the grill body, lid, grates, frame, side tables, and burner against rusting or burning through for.

The manual leads me to believe that it’s normal for the grill to run hot for its first few uses. If it passes the break-in period without improving, then give Weber a call. They will likely replace your regulator free of charge. The grill grates are the toughest part to clean, but they are small enough that they will fit in a dish tub to soak when you’re away from home. It’s a terrible idea to use a wire brush on them because of their porcelain coating, but if you do use this grill at home, keep in mind that the grates are dishwasher safe.

As one of the renowned brands, Weber Grills have been the go-to option for many users. They were not only one of the first names in outdoor cooking, but their grills have also stood the test of time. Within just a few minutes of preheating, this efficient grill is already pushing 500-degree temperatures.

However the Traveler, which is just a little bigger than the Q2200 is absolutely portable and has a much improved cart and side table. My experience with Weber Q grills is that they get hot enough to grill steaks properly, have even heat distribution and are highly reliable. I do not own a Q2200 but do have the Q1200 and Q3200, and I enjoy both of them very much. Design flaw – you can only use smallest propane because frame limits size of cylinder. The Q is much smaller, but not noticeable when it comes to cooking.
