Dyson 360 Eye Robot Vacuum Cleaner Review

In general, owners report having to empty the collection bin every third or fourth cycle, depending on factors such as pet hair and size of the cleaning area. From there you can name your robot, create and delete schedules, see reports on cleaning cycles, start, stop, pause or continue cleanings and see reports on battery life and charging times. The Dyson 360 Eye also uses a top mount camera for mapping and navigation.

Or switch off the brush bar motor in quiet zones or over long-haired rugs. A powerful quad core processor allows the robot to create a map of your home and update it during each clean. 8GB of flash memory; 32 times that of its predecessor enables continuous learning and improvement during the clean. Dyson appears to be readying a new robot vacuum, possibly for US release. The Dyson Link app gives you access to live status of your cleaner, schedules plus maps of previous cleans, and you can also remotely start a clean from your smartphone. The Heurist can access small crevices between furniture that rival cleaners can’t squeeze into and it also sails through chair legs like they’re not there.

It will also let you know about spots it couldn’t tackle by taking pictures and sending them to the app. For a robot vacuum, its dust pickup on carpet is outstanding, scoring perfect marks. Its dust pickup on hard floors such as laminate is also capable. However, compared to a standard stick, upright, and cylinder vacuums, the robot vacuum’s performance was not as strong, though this is to be expected. The iRobot Roomba 980 has also dropped the ball when it comes to overall performance. However, the 980 does make sure it picks up as much as possible and does a fairly decent job.

Basically, the 360 Eye stands as proof that Dyson can make as big a splash in the robot vacuum market as it has nearly everywhere else. Still, at $999, we think it’s worth waiting for the next version. As impressive as Dyson’s clever technology is, there are robot vacuums that clean better for less. The Roomba 980 has a top mount video camera that allows it to map the cleaning area with a visual map.

We found that the Heurist’s connection to wi-fi is very poor, disconnecting itself every few minutes, which meant we couldn’t control it for periods of time. This robot vac doubles as a mop, and thanks to its manual controls can get to work almost as soon as you open its box. It cleaned well and quickly too – covering our test room in just under 18 minutes.

The Micro is as compact as Dyson gets but its diminutive size is deceptive as it gets the job done over the course of its 20-minute battery life. The 0.2-litre capacity isn’t all that sizeable but should carry you through in smaller living spaces or if used for single-room dyson robot vacuum cleaning. At this price, there’s very little to complain about with the X8 Hybrid. Everything is easy breezy with this device, you simply let it go. But, when you do need to add an attachment or customise the vacuum’s functions at all, that’s super simple to do as well.

Tangle-free in this instance does not mean free from hairs or strings. They got rid of the brushes and bristles and utilized interlocking grooves in their place. There is also a sensor in the extraction chamber to note if the bars are caught on something like a cord or wire.

The WIRED conversation illuminates how technology is changing every aspect of our lives—from culture to business, science to design. The breakthroughs and innovations that we uncover lead to new ways of irobot vacuum cleaner thinking, new connections, and new industries. According to iRobot, it makes 60 navigational decisions per second, and having watched it work through a tangle of chair legs we’re happy to believe it.
